MONDAY INSPIRATION : STYLE IT DARK
Updated: Feb 4
I love this style, there's something brave and bold about going dark on the walls. Everyone's instant reaction is no, "it'll make my room feel small". I'm going to show you how it can be done. There are some key factors in achieving this. A high ceiling is very forgiving and can make it easier when going dark but it's still very achievable if not. Finding the right paint colour is crucial, remember to use the wall as a canvas and make the wall a ground for lots to sit on. Pick strong accent colours for large items such as sofas, chairs, cushions and prints this will lift the ground and bring the focus to the accessories. Here are some inspiring images from accounts that make this look work perfectly.
A subtle way of easing into the dark walls is having a feature wall. Use a dark colour as a canvas then add light coloured prints and accessories to lift the colour. Adding items with elements of black around the room will link and make the room flow.
A great brand for this daring project is Farrow & Ball, their paint colours are always mixed with a tint of another colour, this helps light reflect off the surface and add warmth to the room. I have linked two shades I personally found, that do this very well but there are LOTS others to choose from. Railings No.31- A soft black with blue undertones
Off-Black No.57 - A soft black
